Giovanni Pernice and Anton du Beke previously discussed the future of their travel show before the Strictly Come Dancing controversy spiralled out of control.

Professional dancer Giovanni, 33, has been embroiled in controversy over his reported militant style of training in the dance competition. In the most recent series, he was paired with actress Amanda Abbington - who quit early citing medical reasons. She later claimed she was diagnosed with mild post-traumatic stress disorder following her time on the show.

Amanda reportedly told pals she felt Giovanni was "abrasive" with her while training. It was also reported that the Italian cancer is facing legal action from three former Strictly partners following allegations, while BBC bosses are said to have launched an internal investigation.

Giovanni issued a statement where he denied any suggestion of "abusive or threatening behaviour". Amid the controversy, he was dealt another huge blow when it was reported that his travel show with Anton was 'shelved'. During the final episode of the recent series, which aired earlier this year, Anton and Giovanni discussed the future of the programme.

The professional dancer, 33, embarked on a trip around Sicily and Spain with fellow Strictly star Anton Du Beke. They won over viewers during the series that aired earlier this year. It saw them visit where Giovanni and Anton were born and after the show ended, the duo teased their TV show would be back on air sometime soon.

In the episode, Anton reunited with his wife Hannah Summers, his two children and his mother. When Anton and Giovanni reached Anton's mother's village, they put on a show for thousands of people with Strictly co-star Gorka Márquez. As the credits rolled, they discussed the future of the show.

"What a lovely, lovely way to spend a summer," Anton said to Giovanni. "Where to next?" Giovanni then teased about another series: "Well, it doesn't matter where we're going. As long as we're together." This week, it was reported that the travel show was axed from screens.

"Giovanni and Anton had conversations about another travel show and had discussed where they could go next after their trips to Sicily and Spain," a source told The Sun. "But Giovanni has now been told this won't be happening and there will not be another series. It's embarrassing because he'd actively hinted about getting another run but all discussions are off and he's been told the show is on the scrap heap now."

In the meantime, Giovanni has been dealing with the fallout from the Strictly controversy. Amid the drama, his co-stars haven't spoken up in defence of the dancer, with Gorka avoiding questions about him during a Q&A session on Instagram. Ellie Leach and Ellie Simmonds even unfollowed him on social media.
