FANS can't stop chuckling after noticing Scott McTominay had an up-and-down time against Switzerland in more ways than one.

The Scotland midfielder was spotted "jumping like a defender in Wii Sports basketball" in the 1-1 Euro 2024 draw.

But viewers also had a more pressing question - over McTominay's role at set-pieces in such a crucial game.

The Manchester United star drilled the Scots in front early on with a deflected first-time shot.

But Xherdan Shaqiri punished poor defending with a brilliant equaliser.

Nonetheless, the Scots should still reach the group stages for the first time ever if they beat Hungary in Sunday's group finale.

And McTominay's strange technique in trying to keep the Swiss out provided light relief.

He bent his knees to spring up in the air twice in an effort to prevent a cross.

And his odd antics pushed the buttons of amused viewers.

One posted: "Love McTominay jumping like a defender in Wii Sports Resort basketball getting pump faked."

"I can't unsee that now," claimed a second.

But a third fan reckoned McTominay might actually be onto something by stealing his style from a video game.

He wrote: "It worked. He made the guy pass the ball straight out the park."

However, other fans were more puzzled by the 27-year-old taking corners - rather than putting his sizeable frame in the middle to receive them.

One said: "McTominay hitting free kicks and corners when he’s the best player we’ve got at getting on the end of set pieces. It's comical."

Another wrote: "Scottish fans please answer this. Why is McTominay on corners over Gilmour or McGinn, when he's clearly your biggest goal threat?"

And a third observer labelled manager Steve Clarke's deadball strategy as "one of the most baffling tactical choices I’ve ever seen".
