EMILY Atack was left in tears as she was forced to call the police over a slew of vile messages she was receiving daily on Instagram as she labelled the situation 'out of control'.

The actress recounted how unsolicited sexual images and messages had taken a significant toll on her as she was forced to finally take a stand in the hopes of trying to bring the consistent harassment to an end.

During her new BBC Two documentary, Asking For It, Emily investigated how big of an issue online sexual harrasment is for women and girls as she revealed the copious amount of unwanted indecent images she was receiving on a daily basis.

One user, known as 'Daddy Dave', was sending countless messages to the comedy star graphically detailing the sexual desires he felt toward her.

Having attempted to communicate with him to discover why he was sending her the messages as well as blocking him, Emily made a brave call to the police to see if there was anything that they could do.

Arriving to chat with her at home, the TV presenter read just a short snippet of some of the messages aloud before being left in tears.

In one message, Emily was called a 'good girl' as she was told that 'daddy Dave loves looking at you'.

The vile text went onto detail what he thought they should get up to whilst his wife and children were asleep.

As the police officer asked how the messages made her feel, Emily became emotional as she said: "It makes me feel sick, I feel nervous, I feel embarrassed like saying those things to you now... sorry, I don't wanna get upset."

Emily was then left in floods of tears as she continued: "Like saying those words, I just feel really embarrassed, especially, no offence right, but in front of another man."

The star was referring to the male police officer who was accompanying his female counterpart, who politely offered to step out of the room if Emily felt uncomfortable, however she quickly insisted that it was not necessary to do so.

As the officers informed her that she had nothing to feel embarrassed about, Emily added: "I just feel so angry that... because I've allowed it to continue and it is just a bit out of control now."

With tears streaming from her face, the officers informed Emily what they would be able to do next as they said that as a result of the messages coming through Instagram, they may be able to trace if they have had reports from anybody else of receiving unwanted messages and images from the same account.

The star later became emotional again as she had a candid chat with her mum Kate Robbins as she recalled some of the unwanted sexual experiences she had found herself in, as well as discussing the numerous messages she receives from strangers.
