Lily Allen has revealed she often kink-shames her husband David Harbour in a candid admission.
"I wonder if I kink-shame my husband," she speculated, recounting instances when she declines some of his requests with a casual "Because he quite often asks for things, and I'm like: 'No babe, it's not happening.'" To further delve into the dynamics between her and the Stranger Things actor, Allen shared the polite approach of declining his advancements.
"I'm not like: 'You piece of s**t, how dare you ask me to do that! I'm just like: 'Hmm, headache. Little headache, got a bit of a headache, maybe not tonight'," she said on the BBC's Miss Me podcast. Turning sober has brought changes to the singer, especially concerning her perceptions towards sex. "I think the alcohol had a lot to do with the kink in me. Before I got together with David, I don't think I'd ever had sex not drunk," she confessed.
In a more vulnerable moment, the Smile hitmaker opened up about dealing with her divorce from Sam Cooper half a decade ago. "I'm quite into normalizing everything that people are ashamed about in themselves. I was talking to David about this last night; during the breakdown of my last marriage, I was very, very promiscuous and experimental... And I had sex with female sex workers," she disclosed.
Allen then related why she decided to be open about her past in her 2018 memoir 'My Thoughts Exactly'. "I've always felt like I was about to be gotchaed by the tabloids. So I knew that this thing existed and that I've been behaving this way, and I thought that was going to be revealed. And I thought I was going to take a little bit of the power back and reveal it myself in my book," she confessed.
Lily Allen stuns in bikini snaps on Caribbean break with husband David Harbour"I think that when they hear someone like me talk about their own experiences in a non-shameful, sort of matter-of-fact way, then it makes people feel better about themselves. So I'm always wanting to do that," she further expressed.
She went on to say: "To me, that's what art is, that's what creativity is, helping people come to terms with their own behaviour. And behaviour that society sometimes looks down on, but we're all just human, right?" Lily and David started dating in 2019, making their red carpet-debut at the SAG Awards in January 2020.
The couple went on to say "I do" on September 7, 2020, in Las Vegas, with their nuptials being officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator.
