The beauty queen wife of Mexican drug lord Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán appears to have gone back to her old job following her release from prison.

Emma Coronel, 34, is still married to the former Sinaloa Cartel boss - who remains jailed for life in Colorado's Supermax prison.

The US Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed Coronel's release in September last year. She had been sentenced to three years in prison after she pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges in November 2021, but her sentence was later reduced.

Earlier this month, Coronel posted two sets of images to her Instagram account (@emmacoronel9oficial) where she is seen posing in two fancy dresses - one white and one black - while all glammed up, seemingly getting back to work in the beauty industry.

Her most recent post has fashion stylist Edgar Ramos and women's clothing store MAXA tagged in the caption. Coronel wrote: "Enjoy whatever you do to the fullest, in the end that will be your only reward. @edgar.style @maxabrand." The snaps have also been shared on Reddit.

Reacting on Instagram, one of her 113,000 followers wrote: "Congratulations beautiful always shining." Another said: "She's the boss' old lady."

Coronel reportedly met El Chapo while competing in the Coffee and Guava Festival beauty pageant in Durango, Mexico, back in 2007. They married in 2008 and in 2011 she gave birth to their twin girls in California.

The drug lord has several other children with different women, including four sons who took over a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel following his third and final arrest in 2016.

Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, Ovidio Guzmán López, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar and Joaquín Guzmán López are collectively known as Los Chapitos. Ovidio was arrested in January last year and is awaiting trial in the US, but the other three are still being hunted by authorities.
