When Charlotte Tilbury launches a brand new product, the beauty world becomes giddy with excitement at the prospect of a new make-up offering from the cult British icon. That was our reaction when we heard the British beauty entrepreneur, make-up artist, and founder of the best-selling cosmetic brand was launching a brand new foundation tint.
Promising a 'snatched lift and sculpt' and 'ring light effect', the Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint costs £35 and is jam-packed with skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid, plant-powered collageneer, anti-oxidant rich vitamin E and natural daikon radish seed oil. The foundation stick - which will join the ranks of her best-selling Beautiful Skin Foundation, £39, and Flawless Filter, £39, also contains light mapping mesh technology.
This creates a soft-focus effect, blurring and smoothing the skin, leaving your complexion filterless. It also gives your skin a gorgeous glow.

How to de-clutter if you have a beauty stash to last you a lifetimeSpeaking about the new product, which has launched just weeks after the gorgeous Plumpgasm lip gloss, Beautiful Skin tanning drops and Pillow Talk highlighter, Charlotte Tilbury shared: "Over the past 10 years, I’ve built a foundation portfolio full of easy-to-choose, easy-to-use and easy-to-understand complexion icons! Now I’ve created a formula that’s so easy to apply, you can do it in the dark!"
The make-up artist to Hollywood claims it is the perfect foundation for those who prefer a more natural look and explained: "If you are a no-foundation foundation girl, you are going to love this! If you are all about effortless make-up, you are going to love this!
"If you want that naturally beautiful skin glow like you’ve just been to the spa, you are going to love this! Everyone will be asking you... ‘Is it real? Or is it unreal?’!”
She added: “I’ve always been obsessed with light. Like a light thief, I bottle the magic of light to share it with the world! From lighting tricks used by old Hollywood stars, cinematographers and fashion photographers, to Hollywood HMI lights, spotlights, and the flattering effect of candlelight, moonlight, pink light, I have studied them all and put them in my products! Now, I have taken the smoothing, blurring, lit-from-within effects of the viral ring light and bottled them using my Light Mapping Mesh TechTM."
With this in mind, three of The Mirror's fashion and beauty team's make-up fanatics tried out the new formula to see if it lived up to the hype. Here's what they had to say...
Tiff - shade 2 fair
The Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint is a travel-friendly foundation stick that gives me a goddess glow in a lightweight formula that I barely feel on my face. The micro-fine pearlescent filters leave a layer of light reflective glow and it instantly brightens my complexion, it saved me from putting products like highlighter and illuminating primer on my face.
I have been wearing it for days and while I don't see any reduction in wrinkles or increase in firmness as advertised, my skin feels hydrated. I love how it naturally highlighted my cheekbones and nose for added dimensions while blurring the pores for a soft-skin look. My friends noticed the glow and commented "Your skin looks really nice".
For those who prefer a matte skin touch, apply setting powder (I use Suqqu's amino acid-based The Loose Powder) on your forehead, side of your nose and chin. So you can stay glowy without looking oily.
Lucy - shade 5 medium
Lisa Armstrong's fans go crazy over her stunning new hair transformationAny foundation that promises to give a 'ring light effect' I'm here for, so I was excited to try Charlotte Tilbury's Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint. The hydrating foundation stick is formulated with hyaluronic acid, known for its skin-quenching benefits. When I applied it to my skin it didn't cling to drier areas and left my complexion bouncy and bright.
Described as having 'sheer to light coverage', I found the foundation was buildable if you did want more coverage. I applied using a makeup brush, but the formula could easily be blended with your fingers if that is your preference.
If you're looking for a lightweight foundation for the warmer months, it ticks all the boxes, providing a glowing, radiant and smooth finish to your skin. It's also easy to top up while on the go thanks to the stick applicator so would be great for travelling.
For those after more coverage, I would consider Charlotte Tilbury's Beautiful Skin Foundation as it has a slightly thicker formula while still being hydrating.
Eve - shade 5 medium
When it comes to make-up, I am definitely a ‘less is more’ kind of gal. I always turn to CC cream or foundation serum make-up hybrids to give me enough coverage for a blemish-free but natural complexion while allowing my skin to breathe - Clinique’s CC cream, £27.20 at Lookfantastic and Revolution’s Skin Silk, £10.99, are in my roster.
So naturally when Charlotte Tilbury’s newest foundation, the, launched, promising a formula for the no-foundation foundation girls, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Especially when it claims to give a ‘super natural ring light effect glow’ and skincare benefits with its recipe of hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, anti-ageing collageneer and daikon radish seed oil.
Finding my shade on the MUA’s website’s innovative shade match tool was relatively easy. What first struck me about the product was the applicator, it works like a lipstick tube and needs twisting to access the foundation.
I applied it directly to my face and blended it out with my fingers, as instructed by Charlotte although you can also apply with a brush. The texture is gorgeously creamy and moisturising, making it unbelievably easy to manipulate around the face and blend. Plus it felt weightless on my skin, making it the perfect option for summer months.
It didn’t sit in the dry patches on my face either, which is often the case with foundation for me despite ample moisturiser beforehand - which is a bit of a game changer. My skin looked luminous in the light (thank you light-mapping micro-fine pearlescent filters), well hydrated and slightly plumped.
It even withstood vigorous dancing at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert which impressed me greatly, making me think it could be this year’s go-to festival foundation. The mess-free applicator is great for touch-ups on the go too.
As the name suggests, the coverage is ‘sheer’ to light, which is perfect for me, but the cream formula is easily buildable if you’re after more of a medium coverage. While it isn’t cheap at £35, it is a worthy investment as it makes your skin look glorious for hours.
Alternatively, if you’re not up for parting with quite so much, e.l.f’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter is a lovely, natural foundation that is glow-boosting and offers a ‘soft-focus’ finish for £15.
