Jordan Henderson has hit back at England's critics after their dismal 1-1 draw with Denmark, claiming there's 'too much negativity'.
The former Liverpool captain, who was axed from Gareth Southgate's squad following a season spent in Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands, has told fans to 'get behind and trust this team'. Henderson, 34, took to social media after watching ex-team-mate Kyle Walker's post-match interview in which the England vice-captain attempted to keep morale high.
"I think it's tournament football," Walker told BBC Sport. "This is a good Denmark team. We're top of the group so let's try to take a positive from this game. We've not lost, we've conceded a great strike from outside the box. We're top of the group so let's move on to the next game."
On Instagram, Henderson posted: "Well said, @kylewalker2. Too much negativity! Get behind and trust this team."
The midfielder, now of Dutch giants Ajax, was made to watch the tournament from home after being a shock omission from Southgate's preliminary squad last month. But Henderson is still well and truly backing the Three Lions, who took an early lead against Denmark through Harry Kane.

This time, it didn't work, as Denmark equalised through a stunning Morten Hjulmand strike from distance and the teams went into half-time at 1-1.

Denmark then enjoyed the better second half, being well worth their point and probably left feeling like they could've got more. Former England striker Alan Shearer was among those to criticise the Three Lions' dreadful display, saying on commentary: " Gareth Southgate will get serious questions. You see the players out there...
" Phil Foden and what he has done all season for Manchester City, Jude Bellingham turning up in the first game and not so much tonight, John Stones and what we have seen him do at club level. There is far more to get out of those players than he is getting at the moment."
Southgate later admitted: "[The performance was] clearly not what we would have hoped [for]. We're not using the ball well enough and we have to accept that if you do that you will suffer at times as we have tonight. We know there's another level we have to find."
