A 44-year-old mum was charged this week after she allegedly threw her husband from the bonnet of her car amid a tiff over which video game console they should have purchased.

The argument kicked off around midday outside a local Wendy's in Holland, Michigan. Vinnice Leon and her other half Robert Leon were parked up in their 2009 Dodge Charger with their daughter when a fiery argument erupted over their Nintendo Switch.

Robert reportedly wanted her to buy a different gaming system instead. He exited the car in anger as his wife fired up the engine. She zoomed off but her husband leapt onto the bonnet of the moving motor.

Robert ended up taking a tumble from the bonnet and hit his head on the concrete, resulting in a serious brain bleed. He was rushed off to Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital where he sadly died.

Vinnice was arrested and has been charged with one count of a moving violation resulting in death. She appeared in Holland County District Court on Monday and was released from custody after paying a $1,000 (£800) bond.

"I'm still in disbelief. The whole thing blows my mind," she told Fox News, insisting she never meant to harm her husband. The bizarre spat kicked off over something as trivial as a gaming console, Vinnice revealed.

Robert apparently flew into a rage because his wife opted for a Switch instead of the coveted Playstation 5. The mum recounted how he lost control, claiming he began lashing out with punches and shoves while their daughter wailed in the car's backseat. Desperate to defuse the situation, she tried to negotiate with her increasingly volatile husband.

"He got really upset. I've never seen him fly off the handle like that. I've never seen him - I don't know why he got so angry," she explained. "But then he started calling me names, and being very aggressive. He scared my daughter. She screamed at the top of her lungs, like scared cuz he was yelling at me. He slapped me and then he punched my arm. I told him, 'You know, I can cancel the order; I can order the PS5.'"

Despite her attempts, the argument spiralled out of control, with their daughter pleading with Vinnice to drive away when Robert exited the vehicle. "He was trying to break the window on the driver's side door," the 44-year-old alleged.

"My daughter's screaming. She's like going, 'Mum, get me out of here; get me away from him, Mum. Save me.' So I pulled out of the parking spot, and I went to go forward." She claimed her intention was merely to move to a nearby parking lot to allow Robert some time to calm down.

However, that's when he jumped onto the vehicle and soon fell off. The moving violation charge could see Vinnice facing up to a year in jail and a fine of $1,000.
