LEANDRO TROSSARD'S dad has hit out at Belgium's manager - saying 'he's not a good coach'.

It comes after Trossard failed to have an impact in their opening 1-0 defeat to Slovakia, before the Arsenal star was dropped to the bench for their second match, which they won 2-0.

The Gunners star was in fine form for the national team after scoring in their two warm-up games for the tournament.

He then started Belgium's opening group game, playing 74 minutes as they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Slovakia.

Trossard, 29, did not have his finest game in Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park.

However, manager Domenico Tedesco was the cause of this, according to Trossard's father Pierre.

He slammed a lack of guidance for the winger's below-par performance, telling Belgian outlet De Morgen: "Leandro is criticised, but he was moved from one position to another, it’s difficult to keep a guideline in your game in these conditions.

"I don’t think Tedesco is a good coach for Belgium, even if he doesn’t have the stubbornness of Roberto Martinez."

Tedesco, who was appointed Belgium boss in February 2023, then made four changes to the starting XI for the following game against Romania.

And the changes paid off, Youri Tielemans - who was one of the changes - and Kevin De Bruyne both netting in a 2-0 win.

Trossard, who scored 17 goals for Arsenal this season, came off the bench and played 34 minutes in the win that sent the Red Devils top of Group E.

All three teams in Group E are on three points after suffering a win and loss each.

That leaves the final day clashes of Ukraine vs Belgium and Slovakia vs Romania on Wednesday as pivotal to the outcome of the group and potential last-16 pathways.

Speaking after their Romania win, Tedesco, 38, said: "We are very relieved we won.

"It was very important to get the three points. For the rest of the tournament, we are released [from the pressure] and happy.

"Romania left more spaces than Slovakia did. Of course, we missed one or two chances. It would be better if we could kill the game earlier.

"The mentality was good. It’s a pity if you see the quality of chances we created. But it’s not easy against Romania."

The game also saw another would-be goal for on-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku ruled out for an incredibly tight offside.

This takes his tally to three goals being disallowed for him this tournament, two for offside and one for a controversial handball.

Pointless Poland were the first team to be knocked out from the competition due to losing their head-to-head to the only team whose points tally they would have been able to catch, Austria.

Scotland were the second team to be sent packing in Germany after conceding a 98th-minute goal to Hungary.

England take on their final group game against Slovenia tomorrow.
