BABY names are totally subjective - what one person loves another may hate.

But one mum-to-be has told how even she can't stand the name her husband is "obsessed" with - adding that he "won't let go" of the idea even though she thinks it's "terrible."

Taking to Reddit, she explained: "I think the name is basically painting a target on a kid's back and no one will take them seriously.

"My husband thinks it’s a cute name and will start a naming trend!"

She then went on to reveal the name in question is Mips, with Mipsie also being a potential option.

While many may assume it's a joke, the woman confirmed her husband is very "serious."

"No, I cannot convince him no matter what I say it’s terrible so I told him I’d post here to see the general consensus," she added.

It wasn't long before social media users took to the comment section to share their verdict on the suggested moniker.

While some noted how it sounds like something rude, others suggested it's the perfect name for a pet...not a baby.

"Not trying to be mean but that must be one of the worst names I've seen on Reddit," wrote one.

A second penned: "Oh no. That is a great name for a cat, a rabbit or a ridiculously fluffy dog.

"Something small and fuzzy. Not a grown woman.

"I swear people forget that babies become adults someday and have to be saddled with the absurd names parents thought were adorable embroidered on diaper bags."

A third agreed: "If he wants to name something Mipsie, get a cat- Mips seems like such a cute animal name!"

Meanwhile, a fourth added: "Mipsie is such a cat name."

Elsewhere, another commented: "You gotta do whatever you can do to save your baby. I first read it as 'Nips."'

And a further asked: "Is it too late to get the marriage annulled?"
