The bartender who served Justin Timberlake before his arrest confirmed the singer’s claims that he had “one martini”.

The Cry Me A River hitmaker was pulled over by police in New York on June 18, and told officers that he had just one martini while out with friends at Sag Harbor’s American Hotel. Justin was arrested shortly after midnight in Long Island, and Sag Harbor Police Department said in a statement that he was arrested for “driving while impaired or intoxicated”.

According to his arrest report, the Trolls star told officers he “had one martini and I followed my friends home”, and the bartender at the hotel has seemingly confirmed the singer’s statement.

The 43-year-old was pulled over by a police officer on a routine patrol, who witnessed Justin drive through a stop sign, and added that he failed to “keep on the right side of the roadway.” When quizzed by the officer, he noted that the singer’s eyes were “bloodshot and glassy”, and added in the report: “A strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests.”

The Mirrors hitmaker has yet to release an official statement regarding his arrest, but apologised to his fans during the latest stop on his Forget Tomorrow tour on Saturday. Taking to the stage at Chicago’s United Center, he told the crowd: “So many of you come up to me and say, ‘I grew up with you, man.’ I want each and every one of you to know I've grown up with you.”

The visibly emotional father-of-two continued: “You have been such a big and beautiful part of my life and sometimes I can't find the words to show my gratitude that you guys just keep riding with me and riding with me… “I know sometimes I’m hard to love – but you keep on loving me, and I love you right back.” The SexyBack hitmaker is due back in court on July 26.
