Marks and Spencer has shoppers loving a pair of sandals that have now made their way to the chain’s summer sale section. The Leather Ankle Strap Footbed Sandals had an original price of £45 but customers can now get a pair for £33.75, and they even have an option of two different colours - black and dark tan.

The sandals themselves come in a typical gladiator style that not only looks stylish but also looks incredibly comfy, so perfect for those long walks on your summer holidays. With leather straps going across the foot as well as a strap around the back finished with a buckle to fasten, these sandals offer more support than other more popular sandal brands.

M&S promises the sandals will make you "look stylish on warmer days". They are made with an adjustable buckle fastening at the ankle, a comfy flat heel and a moulded footbed.

The retailer also stocks the Suede Buckle Footbed Mules for £22.12, and the Wide Fit Leather T Bar Block Heel Sandals for £37.12. It also has the Leather Ring Detail Slip On Flat Mules for £29.62.

And while the price point is great, shoppers appear to be loving the sandals regardless of price with many leaving raving reviews giving the product an overall average star rating of 4.1 out of a possible five.

One shopper who loved the sandals said: “These are simply gorgeous. They look great and so comfy. Might order the black too.”

A second customer who claimed they were ‘on trend’ wrote: “Very comfortable, good support and just as fashionable as the more expensive sandals. Great buy!”

Another person who left a raving review shared: “Absolutely love these sandals! I’m usually a Birkenstock wearer but fancied something different and these fit the bill, got them in the lovely rich brown in my usual size, perfect fit and sooo comfortable, agree with other reviews about the buckle being a bit fiddly but no big deal, can’t wait to wear them on holiday.”

And a fourth happy shopper said: “These are some of the comfiest sandals I’ve bought in a long time. I usually have to break shoes in but these were butter soft from day one.”

Despite most shoppers loving the sandals, many found the buckle wasn’t in the best position but others had other issues. One wrote: “The sandals didn’t feel like leather, the straps were hard and rough round the edges. Also the holes on the straps weren't punched through properly and it was really tough to do them up. Very disappointing.”

And a second less happy shopper said: “Lovely looking sandals, but when they arrived they were far too wide with my foot floating around, the front of the sandal was also quite hard leather, and I think would irritate with time. Sadly it looked great but poor fit.”

These sandals from M&S make a great money saving option but for those who don’t mind spending a little bit of money then Birkenstock will forever be a popular brand for sandals. Its Arizona Big Buckle sandals are the go-to summer sandal for both men and women but they do have a price point of £130 per pair.

Or another great option that sits between the two brands in terms of price is River Island’s Cream Studded Gladiator Flat Sandals. Costing £50, these come in the same supportive gladiator style as the M&S pair but feature a sole that sits slightly higher off the ground.
