After Christmas, I took a long hard look at my family's accounts and made some tough decisions about our streaming services.

Paying for four services (if you include the TV licence fee) just seemed excessive when our paychecks were not stretching as far as they used to. So I got rid of Nexflix and Disney+.

But months without my regular line to The Simpsons archive, the Pixar back catalogue and all things nerdy with Star Wars and Marvel, my life was poorer without it. That is when I spotted a deal that has given me access to 12 months of Disney+ for free.

Well, you do have to sign up to something else, Uber One, which comes in at £59.99 for a year. Currently Disney+ on its own is £79.90 for a year with ads, or £109.90 for their premium service. So even if you don't use Uber One, it is still the cheapest way to get Disney+ for a year.

Now I use my normal Uber account for the occasional taxi and some food orders, although I prefer Just Eat because I personally think they are quicker, but the Uber One membership deal is available for a limited time (or until 100,000 people have signed up).

What does Uber One membership give you?

With Uber One you have no delivery fees on food, but there is still a small fee to pay when you make an order, mine has been £1.50 on each order. You also get 5% off some Uber Eats deliveries and 5% off some Uber trips.

There is also a 'delivery promise' for Uber One members, if your food arrives after your 'latest arrival estimate' you will be £5 in Uber credit - this has happened on the two Uber Eats orders I have made in the past week and I have been credited with £5 each time. Although I think I would have preferred the food on time instead.

How to claim Disney+ for free

In order to qualify for the Disney+ deal you need to be a new or returning Disney+ customer, so you can not already have an existing account. Be careful as when you sign up for Uber One there is sometimes a deal that gives you your first month free as a trial - if you want the Diseny+ offer you need to end that membership and then start a new one as the Disney deal only applies when you pay for a year of Uber One.

After you have signed up to Uber One for a year and paid the £59.99, you will be sent an email telling you that you can claim your free Disney+ membership. Once you have clicked on it, you will get another email within 48 hours with a one time passcode that you need to put in when you sign in to Disney+.

Disney+ will then take your bank details but no money will be withdrawn, this is for when your membership runs out so they can roll you onto a new monthly contract. It is best to make a note of the end date so, if you are savvy enough, you can stop your subscription then and find a new deal next year.
