Tricia Cusden is the founder of Look Fabulous Forever, a UK-based cosmetics company specifically “formulated for older faces.”

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, the makeup guru shared her tips for how to hide dark under-eye circles.

HYDRATION HERO

Cusden said aging is among the possible causes of the skin around the eyes darkening.

"As we age, our skin loses collagen, becoming thinner and more translucent,” she said.

“Makeup can easily help to disguise this in a few simple steps.”

She said hydrating the under-eye area is the first step to take before applying any makeup products.

“Our skin cells reproduce more slowly as we age,” she said. “This is especially noticeable in the thin skin around our eyes.

“Ensure that you are using a good quality night cream in the evening, particularly around the orbital bone should help the skin feel hydrated and revitalized when it comes to applying your makeup in the morning.”

PUMP PRIMER

Cusden said eye makeup and lipstick struggle to stay put as we get older.

She revealed this is because mature skin isn’t as smooth and tends to be drier, which causes makeup to be “absorbed” into the skin.

“Apply one to two pumps of primer onto a moisturized face to help makeup stay put,” she said.

COMPLEXION CORRECTOR

The beauty expert said a color balance neutralizer can be useful if you have very dark circles around the eyes.

“Our Peach Colour Balance Neutralizer has orange tones that counteract the blueness that you get under your eyes,” she said.

“Dot your neutralizer onto the undereye area with the applicator and smooth in with a concealer brush.”

SMOOTH SKIN

Cusden said the fourth necessary step for disguising dark circles is applying a lightweight foundation.

She said it’s important to “be careful” not to disturb the color balance neutralizer during application.

“Our foundation contains extract of coconut oil to moisturize older, more absorbent skin, soften wrinkles, and prevent sagging," she said, referring to Look Fabulous Forever’s Continous Cover Foundation.

"As well as antioxidant vitamin E to protect your skin from pollution."

The $44 product is sold in five shades that make skin complexion look even and dewy.

Cusden revealed the final step for brightening under-eyes isn’t always necessary.

“Use concealer to disguise any stubborn areas needing extra coverage,” she said.
