The iconic Beats Pill is back and sounding better than ever. This mini boom box was first launched all the way back in 2012 with it featuring a unique shape that helped it stand out from the crowd of Bluetooth speakers. After years of keeping Beats fans entertained, the Pill was finally discontinued in 2022 but it has now been fully rebooted and is coming to UK stores this week.
This new speaker continues to feature its curvaceous styling which is not only lighter and more portable than before but can also survive being used in the British weather thanks to a water-resistant shell. There's now a removable wrist strap which makes it easier to use on the move and, should you lose it, there's "Find My" technology inside to help you track it down using your smartphone.
Of course, a speaker should be all about sound and Beats reckons they have that covered. There's a completely reengineered racetrack woofer tucked behind the front mesh panel which boosts the audio while reducing distortion. Beats also says it has redesigned its tweeter for crisper highs and better clarity plus it features a 20-degree upward tilt for better on-axis sound projection and minimal reflected sound.
Once fully refilled it can keep the tunes going for 24 hours and the internal battery can also be used to boost your phone. Just plug in a USB-C cable and the Pill becomes an instant power pack.
Despite Beats being owned by Apple, it's fully compatible with both iPhone and Android making it easy to set up without needing to dig into endless Bluetooth settings.
Millions of Android owners could slash 'vampire bills' – how to save moneyOther features include being able to double up as a speakerphone for phone calls, improved Bluetooth connectivity and the ability to link two Pills together for the ultimate party sound.
The new Beats Pill is available now in three colours including Matte Black, Statement Red and Champagne Gold. It will set you back £149.99.
“The Beats Pill is back and better than ever—now packed with outstanding sound, all-day battery life, and convenient features,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats.
“From the beloved Pill characters to cameos in the world ’s most-watched music videos, the original Beats Pill was a pop culture phenom and we’re thrilled to bring back a fan favourite updated with the latest features in an iconic design.”
