The world got to see a completely different side to the Royal Family last week when Prince William took two of his children Prince George and Princess Charlotte to see Taylor Swift.

In a rare move, the Prince of Wales and his two eldest were all smiles in a backstage selfie at Wembley Stadium alongside Taylor and her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

Captioning the post, which has restricted comments, the singing sensation wrote in view of her 238million followers: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start."

Fans were sent into a frenzy when a picture of the moment was also shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram page alongside the caption: "Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour."

Discussing the viral selfie, Marina Hyde and Richard Osman suggested that only Taylor could get away with sharing such a personal moment with a usually private William as she's "bigger" than them.

Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, the journalist said: "When you see that [picture], you have to think ah, there are two photographers involved here because there is Taylor doing the selfie and then there is, I guess, Taylor's official photographer taking a photo of that moment happening and putting it out.

"Even though they've come in a private thing, you know the royal family, particularly the Wales' are so fussy about anything like that and they complain.

"You just think, yeah she's just bigger than them so what are they going to do? Complain to Taylor Swift and say she's put the photo out? I don't think so."

She added: "I thought that was really significant because if anyone else did that when they went on a private visit somewhere, there would be huge backlash and they'd be a big problem, but it's just sort of like, I will bend the knee to you Taylor."

Agreeing with his co-star, Richard said that despite what he thinks about the royals, it was good to see "the sheer joy" in George and Charlotte's faces as they met their seemingly favourite popstar.

He went on to describe seeing the moment as "a religious experience", to which Marina added: "She is the ultimate capitalist." Prince William, George and Princess Charlotte were seen enjoying the three-hour concert from a private box overlooking the thousands of fans at Wembley Stadium.

A viral video also shows the father-of-three showcasing his dance moves to Taylor's popular hit Shake It Off, much to the delight of fans.

Reacting to the clip, one fan wrote on the platform X: "I loved seeing #PrinceWilliams dancing at the @taylorswift13 concert. We all know he is Royalty and in line to be King, but he is a person first."

"Prince William dancing to Shake It Off is my new fav video," a second added. A third typed: "After a tough 6 months, Prince William deserves every happiness. How wonderful to see his joyful dancing on his birthday."
