Celine Dion revealed she 'almost died' during her difficult battle with stiff person syndrome.

The 56-year-old My Heart Will Go On singer recently had to cancel her tour after she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome (SPS) in 2022. It is described as a rare neurological disorder, with symptoms of the condition said to include both muscle stiffness and spasms.

Some people experience symptoms such as unsteady gait, double vision and slurred speech. Symptoms could get worse over time. Since being diagnosed with SPS, Celine has been open about her journey and an in-depth look at her struggles in her documentary I Am: Celine Dion.

Sharing an update on Celine, Today with Hoda & Jenna host Hoda Kotb revealed details from her interview with the singer and said the All by Myself singer 'almost died' at one point but is doing 'much better' now. Explaining what she learned from the interview, Hoda said: "It was a scary time."

"She was diagnosed with a terrible disease, and at one point, she wondered if she was going to make it, whether she was going to live through it," Hoda explained to viewers. "A lot of people are wondering what happened [and] what was wrong." Celine also told Hoda about how SPS affected her voice.

"We've missed her and it was a very emotional interview," Hoda said. "We'll see where she is on her journey of coming back, but I know people are cheering her on." The emotional interview is expected to be released on June 11. Earlier in the day, a trailer for her documentary was released and showed the singer getting candid about her health issues.

"I'm ready," she says, beginning to cry in the teaser clip. "If I can't run, I'll walk," she admits in a heartbreaking scene.

Speaking for the first time about the toll her health has taken on her career, Celine tells cameras about her heydays, and missing being on the stage. "Every day, I have to admit, It's been a struggle," she says as shots show her getting help with her mobility.

The 56-year-old's show is released on the platform on June 25 and will mark a somewhat return to show business after opting for a more low-key life after her devastating diagnosis, bar an appearance at the Grammy Awards in February.

Celine recently opened up about making her documentary, explaining: "This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me."
