The England WAGs' flew in to see stars but returned home earlier than in previous games after complaints - from the players
The partners went to the team’s remote HQ to see players after Tuesday night’s disappointing performance. But their “visiting times” were slashed after complaints from some players. Last Friday some members of the squad felt seven hours with their kids and partners was just too much.
So yesterday they only spent between three and four hours in the hotel. A private jet returned some of them to Liverpool last night. After the game, many of them including captain Harry Kane, John Stones, Conor Gallagher and Olly Watkins spent time with their loved ones in the stands.
But not all the families went to their camp in Blankenheim like last Friday. Captain Harry Kane has admitted: “It was a fun day - maybe a little too long - seven hours with the family. It was pretty hectic. We might cut that down in the future.”
The team had flown back to Erfurt at 1.30am before being transferred to their secluded golf and spa hotel. There was no training today. Tonight, three of the players’ girlfriends flew back to the UK on private jets after spending around four hours at the team’s five-star luxury spa hotel near Blankenhain.
Rule that could see Saka and Kane miss derby with a booking - but not a red cardConor Gallagher’s girlfriend Aine May Kennedy, 25, and Anthony Gordon’s partner Annie Keating, left the nearby Erfurt airport on a Cessna 525 jet shortly before 9pm. Moments earlier John Stones’ girlfriend Olivia Naylor, 34, had also taken off with her family on a Cessna 560. Both planes were bound for Liverpool Airport.
Earlier in the day the jets had flown the women in from Cologne, where England had played Slovenia the night before. It comes after Phil Foden flew home from Germany today in time for the birth of his child. His partner is giving birth to their third baby and Foden travelled back to the UK to be with his family before heading back to Germany.
The Manchester City attacker, who has started all three of England's games at the tournament in Germany so far, is expected to be back by Sunday when the Three Lions play in the last 16.
An FA spokesperson said: “Phil Foden has temporarily left the England camp and returned to the UK for a pressing family matter.” Back in April, Foden and his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke revealed they were expecting their third child together. At the time, Foden, 23, and his 22-year-old childhood sweetheart celebrated the exciting news with a baby shower and then shared photos of the party online. They have a son Ronnie, five, and daughter True, who recently turned one.
At the time, the couple posed in front of a large blue and white balloon arch and eye-catching LED letters that spelt 'baby Foden'.
