Lisa Kudrow has been "celebrating" her late co-star Matthew Perry by re-watching old episodes of Friends.

The 60-year-old actress, who played Phoebe Buffay in the iconic sitcom, admitted that for years she couldn't watch the show as it was "too embarrassing to watch" herself. However, she's now revisiting the series as a tribute to Matthew, who died in October at the age of 54.

Lisa confessed: "Honestly, I wasn't able to watch it because it's too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that's OK."

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, she added: "And it's just celebrating how hilarious he was - and that is what I want to remember." Last month marked two decades since the final episode of Friends aired. Despite the passage of time, Lisa is still "blown away" by the comedic talent of her fellow cast members.

She expressed: "I'm laughing out loud, and everyone is hilarious. I'm blown away by Courteney Cox. I'm blown away by Jen [Aniston]. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious. No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him."

However, she admitted she did find it "embarrassing" to watch herself in the show and joked it would be a "horrible look" if anyone saw her. Lisa recalled how even off-camera, the Friends cast were "always laughing so hard".

Lisa gushed: "You're just laughing all day long, basically, in between the scenes, because these are funny people." She remembered how Matthew's goal was always to get as many laughs as he could and said they would always laugh so hard "tears were flying out of our faces."

Reflecting on her late friend's legacy after his unexpected passing, the actress said she thinks he would be happy with how he's been honoured. When quizzed about her hopes for how Matthew will be remembered, she responded: "I think the world is remembering him the way he wanted to be remembered. I think that's happening [already]."
