A woman has been left hailing her good fortune after putting her bin out and finding a valuable item inside it.

The item in question - a Le Creuset casserole pot - which has a retail value of £300. Gladly salvaging it, she shared a snap of her surprise discovery on X (formerly Twitter), captioning it: "I just took the trash out and found this in my dumpster."

The pots come in a variety of colours, with 'Flame' being a common variation in the US. The woman later shared an update video of its murky inside, which she cleaned with a scouring pad and restored it to an almost brand new appearance.

The post soon went viral prompting others to admit they couldn't believe the woman's luck too. "I have that same one," one X user penned. "Who on Earth would throw that out?!"

Another joked: "The most middle class flytipping ever!" A third added: "And they say there are no 'free chickens' running around in the street! Congrats, that thing looks like it's in incredible condition."

While a fourth detailed: "Reminds me of some of the things I've found at garage sales, someone gets married and relatives shower them w/expensive cookware. But nobody in the house can handle anything beyond microwaving a TV dinner. So, the expensive hardware sits gathering dust for a few years, then ends up dumped for pennies on the dollar, or chucked into the trash."

The iconic Cast Iron Round Casserole - as it is known - might seem like a hefty splurge for a pot at £300, however it’s been designed to last you a lifetime so you should only ever need to buy it once. The cast iron material means it's sturdy and top quality, and will take on flavours over the years, enhancing your cooking more and more each time you use it.
