Travis Kelce didn't have to bow to Prince William - despite awkward question

Travis Kelce did not need to follow royal protocol when he met Prince William earlier this week at one of Taylor Swift's London gigs.

The pop superstar's beau of nearly a year was seen cheering the singer on from the sidelines as she continued the UK leg of her Eras tour. He was captured on video dancing and mouthing the words to her biggest hits behind throngs who packed Wembley Stadium during one of her eight performances.

When the Kansas City Chiefs Tight End wasn't supporting the singer, he was rubbing shoulders with some of the other high-profile attendees, most notably meeting members of the Royal Family who turned out among the approximately 700,000 people who flocked to the London concert venue this week. Travis joined Taylor as she greeted Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte when they went to watch last weekend, and asked whether he should bow to the heir-to-the-throne.

Speaking on his New Heights podcast, which he hosts alongside his brother, Jason, Travis said he "wasn't sure if I was supposed to like bow to them, curtsy" or "just be an American idiot and shake their hand". The three-time Superbowl winner said he was not required to participate in the royal tradition.

He said: "They said because we weren't at like an official royal event, we didn't need to bow or curtsy. If it would have been like an official meeting of royalty event, then it would have been that." The American football player added that he did still refer to Prince William via his official title.

He added: "But I did still address him as your royal highness. And I've never felt emasculated." Travis also appeared alongside the royal Swifties in a picture, with the group seen beaming into the camera alongside Taylor in a post-show photograph.

Since returning to the US, Travis has had nothing but compliments for the Prince, telling podcast listeners the heir was the "coolest m*****f*****" when they met last week. He said the royals were an "absolute delight to me", with his brother adding: "The highlight was Princess Charlotte, Prince George was great too, but she was so f****** adorable. I cannot express how much of a superstar she was."
