Missing teenager Jay Slater's mum has revealed exactly what the £36,000 in donations for her son will be spent on.

Mum Debbie Duncan confirmed this morning that cash raised by concerned members of the public will now be withdrawn. In a major update shared via her son's GoFundMe page, Debbie said friends and family of the missing 19-year-old are not losing hope and will "return home together" once they have found Jay. The mum also revealed where the £36,000 will be spent once withdrawn.

The GoFundMe page, titled "Get Jay Slater home" was launched by Jay's best friend, Lucy Mae Law, with an intial target of £30,000. After nationwide confusion about where the money was going, it was later revealed that the cash would be used to cover travel and accommodation expenses for Jay's friends and family, who flew to Tenerife to help in the search.

But Jay's mum has now provided some extra clarity about where the funds will go once withdrawn.

Mountain rescue teams

Debbie revealed that a portion of the funds will be going to search and rescue teams, who continue to scour rugged areas near the village of Masca in hopes to trace the teenager. She explained: "We are currently working with GoFundMe to withdraw part of the funds, which are being safely held. I wanted to share that these funds will be used to support the mountain rescue teams who are tirelessly searching for Jay."

Spanish authorities are yet to find any trace of Jay since he disappeared last Monday – despite a huge search operation that saw helicopters, drones and sniffer dogs deployed across rural parts of the Island.

Food and accommodation

Following widespread confusion about where the money for Jay's fundraiser would be going, Jay's family responded by explaining the cash would be used to cover accommodation expenses for friends and family who flew over to Tenerife to help in the search.

In Debbie's new update, she confirmed this by saying: "Additionally, since our stay in Tenerife needs to be extended, we will also use the funds to cover accommodation and food expenses."

Jay's loved ones are still scouring areas of the rural Masca village in hopes to find the teen, while Spanish police are using helicopters, drones, and specially trained sniffer dogs to track him down.

Flights for loved ones

Since the news of Jay's disappearance first broke on Monday, several close freinds and family of the teen have touched down in Tenerife to help out in the search. Debbie is joined by Jay's older brother Zac, 21, and Jay's dad, Warren Slater, who said the teenager's disappearance “doesn't make sense.”

She told fundraisers that some of the money will be spent on flights to bring more loved-ones over to Tenerife. She said: "I'm surrounded by wonderful people who are by my side, but far from their loved ones, so we'll also be using part of these funds to fly them to Tenerife so we can support each other during these dark times."

Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, remains missing since the morning of Monday, June 17. The night prior, he left the NRG music festival in Tenerife with two British men he befriended on a night out. The apprentice bricklayer was last heard from on the morning he vanished, when he called his friend Lucy Mae Law and told her he was lost, needed water and had just one percent battery on his mobile.
