DAVID MOYES is keen to stay in club management despite calls to make him the next Scotland boss.

Moyes, 61, left West Ham last month and was quickly linked with the national team job.

But the Scot is intent on a Premier League return — even if it means waiting until a team hits a crisis.

Moyes has the third most manager appearances in the Premier League - he has overseen 697 matches.

He is only topped by Arsene Wenger- who holds the record for most games managed with 828 - and Sir Alex Ferguson's 810 games overseen.

Moyes kept his cards close to his chest when he was put on the spot over potentially becoming Scotland boss.

He would be the universal selection if Steve Clarke walks away after failing to get the national team out of the group stage at Euro 2024.

Clarke remains under contract with the SFA until 2026 but an element of the fanbase believe a change could be sought after five years at the helm.

Moyes refused to talk down Clarke and was keen to stress how impressed he had been by the former Kilmarnock manager with the national team.

Moyes began his second spell in charge of the London club in 2019 and became one of West Ham's most successful managers ever.

Moyes' successor is former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui.

He ended the club's 42-year major trophy drought by lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League, where his side defeated Fiorentina.

Moyes has been enjoying his time out of the hot-seat to cover Euro 2024 for talkSPORT.
