MANCHESTER CITY icon Sergio Aguero couldn't help but applaud Manchester United's second goal in the FA Cup final.

The Argentine striker was left impressed when Kobbie Mainoo finished off a delightful move for the Red Devils to put them 2-0 up before half-time against neighbours Man City.

Aguero, who won the Premier League five times with City, sat down to watch the FA Cup final on a livestream with his fans watching along with him.

And the 35-year-old was impressed by what he was seeing from his old rivals as United shocked City with a first half blitz.

Aguero was particularly taken aback by Kobbie Mainoo's goal, which put Man Utd two goals to the good before half time.

The move saw Marcus Rashford ping a cross-field pass to Alejandro Garncho before the ball was worked into Bruno Fernandes who brilliantly teed up Mainoo to slot his shot past Stefan Ortega.

And the classy combination had Aguero clapping, despite being a Man City legend and seeing his old side lose their grip on a domestic double.

The 101-time Argentina international initially put his head in his hands as he saw the ball hit the back of the net, but quickly began to clap afterwards as his appreciation for United's move became evident.

He said: "I have to applaud United’s goal. I don’t have any other option than to applaud. In reality, it's impressive."

Mainoo's goal added to the opener that Garnacho had scored for United earlier in the first half following a howler at the back involving Josko Gvardiol and Ortega.

Mainoo and Garnacho became the first teenagers to score in an FA Cup final for over 20 years - with fellow Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo the last to do so back in the 2004 final.

Aguero had to sit through a second half where United dug their heels in and made it difficult for City to try and come back into the game.

A late goal from Jeremy Doku wasn't enough to claw City a way back into the game and Man Utd wound up 2-1 winners to lift the FA Cup and regain some bragging rights in Manchester.

The performance from Erik ten Hag's squad was one of the best seen from the players under the Dutchman.

But despite his tactics paying off this time and earning him a second trophy in two years as boss of the Red Devils, rumours are still swirling that Ten Hag could get the sack.

The 54-year-old issued a defiant response when quizzed about his future following the game.

He said: "Two trophies in two seasons and three finals. That’s not bad.

"If they don’t want me any more I go somewhere else to win trophies. That is what I do."
