Netflix announces next Knives Out film's title and if Daniel Craig will return

Netflix has announced the title of the next instalment in the Knives Out series and has confirmed whether Daniel Craig will reprise his role after being in the previous two films.

The actor, 56, made his debut as detective Benoit Blanc in Knives Out (2019), before returning for standalone sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022). He's set to reprise the role in the upcoming third film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which is due to be released next year.

The first film saw famed private detective Benoit hired to investigate the death of author Harlan Thrombey (played by Christopher Plummer). He teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to uncover the truth in "a twisted case" that was "filled with angry relatives [and] red herrings".

The character returned in its first sequel, which saw him head to Greece to "peel back the the layers of intrigue surrounding" tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and "an eclectic group of disruptors". Benoit was last seen pondering the events of that film and it's now been teased that the "fiery ending" may lead into his "next chapter".

Rian Johnson, the writer and director behind the franchise, wrote in on X, formerly known as Twitter, shortly before the teaser's release: "I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is.

"There's a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies. We're about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I'm very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it's going."
