Manchester United will challenge for the FA Cup trophy on Saturday afternoon as they face Manchester City at Wembley in the final for the second season in a row.

As well as winning another piece of silverware, this is the last chance United have to qualify for Europe next season. The Red Devils finished eighth in the Premier League, their lowest ever finish since the division was rebranded in 1992, and have missed out on European football through the league.

However, if United beat City, they will play in the Europa League next season, pushing Newcastle out of Europe entirely. That is another incentive for Erik ten Hag's side to go and win, though they face a City side that have already beaten them twice in the league this season.

Here is the latest news from Old Trafford.

Onana confident

Goalkeeper Andre Onana is confident Manchester United can spring a shock as they bid to win the FA Cup and beat Manchester City this afternoon.

United have lost both matches against City in the Premier League this season, but Onana believes the return of several key players, including Lisandro Martinez, will go in their favour.

"We show when we have almost all our players back, we battle against the best teams," he told the club's website. "Against Arsenal, Liverpool and City we showed it. So I think when everyone is back, it's completely different. Of course, I don't want to use that as an excuse because wearing this shirt means [a lot].

"All the people who are wearing the shirt, that means they can they have the ability to represent this club. But we have important players who have been injured for almost the whole season, and it's difficult for the team, not only the team, for the club, for the squad, for the physios, for the supporters, because they are used to seeing all the players fit. And at the moment we have to deal with that difficulty because everything in life is temporary.

"It will pass. Most of them, they are already coming back. It's already positive for us. So we are thinking about the final and it's nice to to see them on the pitch to train with them. Rapha is there. They are all smiling. For us, it's just a big sign."

Fernandes open letter

Bruno Fernandes has demanded Manchester United to meet his expectations as he sends a message of intent to the club ahead of the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

The future of Fernandes is unclear, with United willing to listen to offers for many of their star players this summer. The Portugal international has two years to run on his contract at Old Trafford.

In an open letter, Fernandes said: "I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world. I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream.

"I just want my expectations to fit with the expectations of the club. If you go talk to any fan, they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete for the league.

"We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in cup finals. That is the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve. I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here."

Yorke prediction

Former United forward Dwight Yorke is concerned the Red Devils are facing an "embarrassing scoreline" from the FA Cup final against Manchester City this afternoon.

"You think of Erling Haaland missing all the chances that he has, yet City are still able to conjure up other players to score their goals," said Yorke. "If he's playing well and taking his chances, then United are in desperate trouble. They need everything to go their way to have any chance of lifting the trophy.

"They need to play an unbelievable game with a lot going in their favour and take all the opportunities that come their way. The odds will be stacked against them and it could be quite an embarrassing scoreline, but alternatively they could pick City’s pockets and sneak a result."
