Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's closeness with David and Victoria Beckham came to an abrupt end and a new book has claimed to pinpoint why.
According to the new release by a royal author, Meghan had "longed to by posh" like the former Spice Girl and is said to have asked the popstar for "free clothes and handbags". This request is said to have been vetoed by Buckingham Palace as it would have been against their strict rules.
It isn't just the apparent cheeky requests though that saw a breakdown in the celebrity friendship. In the new book by Tom Bower titled The House of Beckham, the author claims "lost trust" occurred after apparent leaks to the press.

Bower claims Meghan had received "beauty advice and best facials and hairdresser in London" before she married the Duke of Sussex, only to discover the conversation in a British newspaper.
Meghan Markle 'to unleash her own memoirs' as Prince Harry's drops next weekBower wrote: "Only after The Sun reported how Victoria had given Meghan makeup advice did the relationship between the two ambitious women crash. Markle was sensitive to the media probing into her unusual past. Harry was ordered to complain to David Beckham."
Victoria denied being the source of the leak and pinned the blame on a beautician. However, Bower goes on to say Meghan was "envious" of the Beckhams due to their luxurious lifestyle, which included private jets and yachts.
The rift between the couples became more apparent when the Duke and Duchess were seemingly snubbed by the Beckhams when their son Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz in 2022.
Meghan's dad, Thomas Markle Snr, also recently opened up on his own strained relationship with the Sussexes, saying he hopes one day they can reconcile. In a chat shortly before his 80th birthday, he admitted he doesn't see it happening, but has hopes of one day seeing his grandkids, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "I've never been one for birthdays, but I know the one person I most want to hear from, Meghan, won't be in touch. I would love to meet my grandchildren, but I would be happy with a photograph at this stage."
