Alfie Watts learned how to budget when he appeared on BBC One show Race Across The World.

And it appears old habits die hard – as he recently went to extraordinary lengths to slash his holiday expenses and avoid outrageous parking fees. This time here in the UK.

He uploaded a video showcasing his journey to Stansted Airport on TikTok, which involved heading there on foot to dodge the steep £100 charge for just a two-day park. He joked the airport must be "having a giggle".

The humorous post shows Alfie trudging along with his luggage, alongside the caption: "When you flat out refuse to pay for airport parking so decide to literally walk to Stansted."

The compilation of his trek has left people in stitches. And luckily for Alfie, he was blessed with a sunny day, which made his thrifty hike slightly more enjoyable.

Alfie didn't mention how long it took him to get there, but his unconventional approach to budget travel has blown up online. Fuelled by people admiring his "Race Across the World" mindset, the clip has attracted more than 200,000 likes.

Comments flooded in as users were amused by Alfie's antics. Some shared their amusement, with one person joking: "This is so funny because I drive to work, and see 30+ people a day doing this."

Another quipped about the logistics of walking overseas: "I would walk all the way abroad if I didn't live on an island."

A third also highlighted the absurdity of parking prices, writing: "I swear that at Stansted 75% of flights cost less than it costs to park your car while you're away." Meanwhile, another user wittily noted: "Airport parking does take the mick to be fair."

Despite many laughing along with Alfie, others suggested easier ways to reach Stansted without causing his feet such discomfort. One individual proposed: "I feel like there were options between those two."

Another added: "Bro there's buses and trains." And a third person asked: "Couldn't you take the coach?"

Despite some confusion over his bold choice, Alfie remained unfazed. Responding to the comments, he stated: "Walking is free", standing firm on his decision to clock up the miles himself.
