Anthony Gordon has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool as Newcastle attempt to meet the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Newcastle are thought to need to make sales before June 30 in order to balance their books and understands they approached Liverpool over selling Gordon. Talks ultimately broke down when it was suggested that Jarell Quansah could move in the opposite direction.
However, the Daily Mail has claimed that there is a chance that talks over Gordon could be revived. The winger enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, making 33 goal contributions in 48 games across all competitions as he earned himself a spot in England's Euro 2024 squad.
And Gordon has previously revealed he grew up idolising Reds legend Steven Gerrard, having been in Liverpool's academy until the age of 11 when he was released and picked up by Merseyside rivals Everton.
"Steven Gerrard was my football hero growing up," Gordon said in an interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap. "Coming from Liverpool, he was like a God in Liverpool, and he was an unbelievable player."

Gordon has also previously spoken of his admiration for current Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, branding him "an absolute machine and a winner". He said: "My confidence comes from my preparation.
"I don't know where it comes from, I wouldn't say anyone round me is anything like that. I just love learning stuff, and throughout my years growing up, I've taken a liking to learning about psychology.

"I saw Mo Salah talk about it – that's where I took even more interest, because I see him as an absolute machine and a winner. People like that, you're not going to go too far wrong following what they do."
Despite the speculation surrounding Gordon's future, the 23-year-old remains fully focused on the Euros as he hopes to make his first start when England take on Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen in the last-16.
