Declan Rice appeared to call the Slovakia head coach a 'bald c***' as tempers flared at the end of England's win over the minnows.

The Three Lions had to come from behind to claim a win in the Last 16 and set up a quarter-final tie with Switzerland. Rice played all 120 minutes in Gelsenkirchen in central midfield, with England forced to hold on towards the end of the game.

The Arsenal star was then involved in a furious bust-up with Slovakia head coach Francesco Calzona after the full-time whistle. Calzona had stormed over to the officials to confront them over a decision.

Rice fronted up to the Slovakia boss, who then shoved the England star. Players from both sides came piling in, with Rice seen shouting back at the Slovakians who had got involved in the incident.

A video emerged on social media which appeared to show Rice calling Calzona a 'bald c***'. Rice was led away by England team-mate Ivan Toney as another member of the Slovakia coaching staff confronted him and pushed him in the chest.

Fellow Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale then tried to calm Rice down as the midfielder continued to exchange words with the Slovakian coaching staff. The referee reached for a yellow card amid the confrontation, but it was unclear who it was shown to.

Rice did not address the incident in his post-match media duties, instead focusing on England's dramatic win. He hailed Jude Bellingham for his stunning equaliser before paying tribute to Slovakia for their performance.

“I cannot describe the feeling representing England. European Championship round of 16 you look up at the clock and you think ‘we could be going home here’. There are players saying to each other one minute to go and there is that inner fight and spirit in us," he told BBC Sport.

"We have got that togetherness tonight, we would do anything to protect this manager. Keep going and keep fighting, it is an honour to be a part of it – we are going to keep going. It is crazy because if that was me that was going over the bar!

"It was a big moment for 21-years old, that takes a lot of guts. People don’t understand what you have to go through to get over the line. We are not playing against invisible men. They are top footballers, they kept going after us.

"It is about waiting for those moments as the game got stretched we created more. The fans tonight I cannot speak highly enough of them. So grateful they are all here to experience that."

Captain Harry Kane scored the winner 52 seconds into extra-time to send England through to the last eight. They will now take on Switzerland next Saturday with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
