Alejandro Garnacho's brother decided to mock Pep Guardiola after Manchester United claimed a shock FA Cup victory.

The Red Devils headed to Wembley as huge underdogs but were able to upset Manchester City, securing a 2-1 success thanks to goals from Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo in the first-half. It means Guardiola's hopes of retaining the double ended at the hands of their neighbours.

Garnacho's sibling, Roberto, was more than happy to rejoice in his brother's success as he edited a photo showing the United star holding a dog with Guardiola's face on it alongside the caption: "Manchester is red Pepe".

City were aiming to become the first side in history to successfully retain the Premier League and the FA Cup in the same season. Instead those on the blue half of Manchester will finish the campaign with just the league title.

Guardiola conceded afterwards that he had got things wrong from a tactical point of view as they struggled to get their usual game going. He said: "Congratulations to Manchester United on winning the FA Cup. I think my gameplan was not good. The second half was much much better.

"We were more intense, in part because we were 2-0 down and had nothing to lose. It was a tight game. We had clear chances in the second half which wasn't easy because they had man-marking and defended the pockets but we had the chances and unfortunately we scored a goal a little bit late."

Despite only landing the one piece of silverware the City boss was full of praise for how his side had performed across the campaign. He said: "It's normal teams can lose finals but this season has been extraordinary, fighting for all the trophies in a good way. We'll rest and come back next season."

Garnacho scored the game's opener as he seized on a miscommunication between Josko Gvardiol and Stefan Ortega, which allowed the United man to slot into an empty net. Mainoo produced a neat finish to double the lead with Garnacho hailing him as the team's standout.

“The best player in the squad and he’s the youngest. We’re also good friends. I’m so happy for him," said the Argentine of his English colleague.

United's win means, despite finishing eighth in the league, they will play in next season's Europa League.
