I've always been a powder girlie. Powder bronzer, powder blush, powder highlighter. I have steered clear of applying cream-based formulas myself out of fear that they'd look or feel too heavy on my skin.

Of course, that was my thought process before I got my hands on Revolution Pro's trio of face creams, which includes a bronzer contour, blush and highlighter, and usually retail at £18 but are on sale at Lookfantastic for £14.40 and bit the cream-formula bullet.

Having heard that all three products (which come in light, medium and dark) have been praised for being alternatives to Charlotte Tilbury's contour and beauty wand (both £30), I was pretty excited to try them out for myself but, slightly sceptical of the lower price tag, I wanted to do my research and find out what other make-up buffs had concluded.

I found the Revolution PRO Hydra Bright Cream Blush (£7.99) was praised for being 'natural' whilst still giving some colour. The formula has impressed our beauty writer Bethan Shufflebotham who said the cream was a "dream" and not "watery, cakey" or "patchy".

As for the Glow Edit Cream Contour and Bronze, it's received more than 100 five-star reviews, one of which claims: "This stuff is amazing! What a perfect dupe for CT!

"It’s a really decent bronze colour for my light / medium skin tone, it blends well and it lasts all day with a setting spray! Well played, Revolution. This will be a make-up bag staple!!"

The Revolution Pro Glow Edit Cream Highlighter Aglow, also £7.99, has received a lot of love too. Coming in three different finishes, the highlighter has been described as "shimmer-tastic" with one shopper citing: "It blends beautifully with your finger and gives a lovely wet look sheen."

With reviews as glowing as the highlight claims to be, I set about making myself up and after applying my primer/serum hybrid before lightly applying the £7.69 Revolution's Silk Skin foundation and its Conceal & Define Concealer, £3.49. My base was prepped and so I went in with the contour stick. Twisting the cap and squeezing the tube made the application super simple and mess-free.

As a contour novice (I know, as a beauty writer I hang my head in shame), I sheepishly - and lightly - lined the hollow beneath my cheekbones, my nose, chin, just below my hairline and a little on my jawline. I was surprised by how smoothly the cream went on and how easily it then blended out.

I was expecting to need to work hard to ensure my face didn't look dirty, but the silky, light formula ensured that didn't happen. I loved how it made my features look a tad more defined (especially as someone without striking, Kate Moss-esque cheekbones) plus, it gave me a lovely sun-kissed glow.

Next was the blush. Knowing it's a buildable formula, I applied a few small dots to my cheekbones and, again, dabbed it with my beauty blender. The shade I opted for was relatively subtle - as has been noted by some shoppers who wish it was "more pigmented".

I wanted a bit more colour so I added a few dots in the same area and blended until I got my desired flush. What's lush about this blush is, alongside the pink being a lovely bright, icy hue, the formula contains subtle light-reflecting particles which give a luminous glow, adding to a glorious fresh-faced look.

For some shoppers it is too pearly with reviews saying, it had too much 'metallic sparkle'. If you are concerned about this, Iconic London's Sheer Blush has a similar tube applicator (£21) and is very popular.

If you love it though, like I did, it gives enough of a glow not to need a highlighter. But I wanted a highlighter too and so, just like I did with the blush, I squeezed the tube until the gold pigment showed and dabbed the cushion on the points that catch the light. Trying a different technique, I blended using my fingers. I found could manoeuvre where the product would go and as I turned to face the light, I loved how it glimmered.

I will say that you can't leave it too long before blending. I made that mistake the first time I applied the products and it took some decent elbow grease and a wetted beauty blender to draw it out to how I wanted it to look. And even then it looked a bit patchy- but that's my fault.

After my second attempt, I was happy with the glowy finish I was met with and it stayed put for hours. I finished off my party look with my I Am Woman Ciate eyeshadow palette, Iconic London Triple Threat, Charlotte Tilbury's PillowTalk Plumpgasm lipgloss and I was pleasantly surprised. I looked more bronze than I usually did but I didn't mind it and even my friends noticed a nice change in my complexion, saying 'your face looks so nice today'.

My partner was also a big fan and said I had a lovely 'radiant glow'. It's safe to say that, with such positive reinforcements from the people who know me best, I'm a convert to cream-based bronzer, blush and highlighter thanks to Revolution Pro.

Plus, at £18 for all three, it feels like an absolute steal. The only thing I will say is that you need to squeeze the tube gently as you may generate a bit too much product than you require for your look and end up starting all over.
