The Prince and Princess of Wales spent secret date nights away from their children, dining for two at curry houses across the UK in the run-up to the King’s coronation, it is revealed.

Due to their global celebrity Prince William and Princess Kate often dine at home, with the mother-of-three saying she is a keen cook and loves to be in the kitchen, if only to prevent attracting too much attention.

However, these homemade dinners made way for some public meals together, with the couple leaving Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis at home to "secretly try lots of curry houses around the country."

The royal couple said they “love curries” during one visit to an Indian Streatery restaurant in Bennetts Hill, Birmingham, which was part of their tour ahead of King Charles' coronation.

Prince William successfully went incognito when booking him and his wife a casual curry, Vinay Aggarwal and his wife Ankita Gulati a table and gave him directions to the restaurant without his voice being recognised.

Software engineer Vinay Aggarwal said he had "no idea" that he was talking to the Prince until afterwards.. Vinay added: "It’s pretty amazing and a surprise. I didn’t know at that moment, but it’s a very nice surprise. Obviously [I will be telling everyone], it’s not something that happens often.

"I didn’t recognise his voice at all, this is the first time I was listening to him on the phone, so I genuinely thought someone was taking the booking for me.

Kate admitted she "loves spice" whilst her husband is more of a “masala man” and is partial to a milder taste. As reported by , the pair confirmed to 's in 2017 that they are "absolutely" permitted to order a takeaway. It's been teased that their royal status doesn't hinder their ability to enjoy such a treat.

During the interview, Princess Kate revealed that her favourite dish is a "curry, definitely," while Prince William confessed that he's "not so good with spice". The latter also . Prince William's cousin, who has two children with her husband, opened up about the practicalities of ordering food to the Palace. Eugenie disclosed that they personally collect their orders, saying: "We ring down and say, 'there's a Deliveroo coming', and then we'll get in our pyjamas and drive down and go pick it up."
