Loris Karius saw a friendship with Justin Bieber blossom after the singer complimented his tattoos.

The goalkeeper and one of music's most well known names are not necessarily a combination you expect to see, but a meeting in Miami back in 2015 was the beginning of a relationship that has stood the test of time.

They exchanged numbers and decided to attend a concert together.

Karius has previously shared how the pair begun their friendship, saying: “We just met on holiday randomly last year.

"We were staying at the same place in Miami. He liked my tattoos. He was asking me about them and then we got talking. That's how it started.”

The Newcastle goalkeeper could be set to make his debut for the Magpies at Wembley as they eye Carabao Cup glory.

The former Liverpool shotstopper is currently on the books in the north east and could get a major opportunity, which is owing several absentees.

Nick Pope, who has been the team's No 1, was sent-off in the defeat against Liverpool last weekend and is now suspended whilst Martin Dubravka, previously first choice at St James' Park, was on loan at Manchester United earlier this season and is cup tied having appeared for the Red Devils.

Karius remains best known for his Champions League final clanger whilst playing on Merseyside.

He start in the 2018 final as Liverpool took on defending champions Real Madrid, eventually losing 3-1. The goalkeeper made major errors, gifting Los Blancos two of their goals.

Eddie Howe is now hoping that, with an opportunity set to come his way on Sunday, the goalkeeper can respond and rewrite his narrative.

The Magpies boss said: “It would be a magnificent chance for him to rewrite the story of his career. There's been loads of stories through the times in football where these things have happened and there's been a really positive outcome - or not.

"As soon as it happened (Pope’s red card) there was a feeling of whether there was another page in Karius' career to write. Who knows what that chapter will look like?

"That's the beauty of football. We never know what is going to happen. This unpredictability is what makes it such an amazing thing to watch."

Newcastle are seeking a first trophy in decades and will appear at the new Wembley for the first time having previously played their in successive FA Cups finals in the late 1990s.
