People have been left "sobbing and throwing up in British" after an American woman has shared how she prepares her version of the perfect cuppa.
When it comes to a cup of tea, us Brits are so fussy about our precious drink. We want it done to our liking, and we don't appreciate anything less than perfection. Perhaps that's why one woman has been inundated with gobsmacked tea lovers commented on her video when she shared how she likes to prepare her tea.
Penny Kmitt, often shares what life looks like day-to-day as a television reporter for CBS. The news reporter often conducts get-ready-with-me videos, news updates, and what goes on behind the scenes on her TikTok page. Recently, the TV star was showcasing her early morning routine. To the dismay of many Brits, she did not use a kettle to prepare her morning cuppa, but used a microwave.
Despite owning a kettle, Penny puts cold water into a mug before heating it up in the microwave. She warms up the water for two minutes before dropping an Earl Grey teabag into it.
Penny insists she does not have time to wait for the kettle to boil, and believes using her microwave saves her time. She explained that her kettle takes over six minutes to boil. "Not only does this take much longer, but it is way too hot to drink right away," she explained.
'There's no romance in our marriage and hubby even forgot our 10th anniversary'As she took a sip of her microwaved tea, she added: "This is ready to go, I rest my case." But people couldn't believe the way she prepares her tea, and rushed to shared their thoughts.
One individual pointed out that she could get a better kettle, and said: "Girl, there are electric ones. They literally boil the amount amount of water in like two minutes." One Brit added: "You need it boiling hot so the tea bag infuses. Trust me I'm a Brit."
"My kettle takes 20 seconds," pointed out another. One other commented: "If you don't have time to make tea in a kettle, then you don't have time to drink tea. Not everything about life is go go go!"
"Sobbing and throwing up in British," wrote another. "Microwaved water is just wrong," said another. One other commented: "My English heart can't take this, those poor tea bags!"
But a number of people jumped to defend Penny as one said: ""I love making tea in the microwave." Another, not understanding people's frustration, added: "Literally it's hot water why the f*** does it matter?"
"I might try this," one other said. Another insisted: "Microwave is better."
