KALVIN PHILLIPS is considering leaving the Premier League entirely as he aims to resurrect his career.

The Manchester City midfielder had been firmly on the radar of his former club Leeds United this summer, who were keen to take him on a season long loan.

It would have completed an unlikely return to Elland Road, where Phillips still has hero status among fans.

But the move has now been shelved after Leeds failed to secure a return to the Premier League.

Everton have also been linked with the player but it's believed they'd prefer a loan move - an idea City aren't keen on

It means Phillips - who spent the back end of last season on loan at West Ham - is now likely to head overseas as he looks to rebuild his career.

SunSport understands RB Leipzig in Germany, sister club RB Salzburg in Austria and Roma in Italy are all tracking the player.

And Phillips is believed to be open to the idea of moving abroad.

He fully accepts his time at Man City is over and that he has no future under Pep Guardiola.

The switch has been disastrous, with Phillips beset by injuries and question marks raised over his fitness.

It has seen him drop out of the England squad - despite once being a regular starter under Gareth Southgate.

But the Three Lions boss is thought to be keen to look again at Phillips once he’s regained his fitness and settled back into a first team.

Should he go to either Leipzig or Salzburg, Phillips would be the only Englishman in the squad.

However, he would be in good company at Serie A giants Roma.

Former Man Utd defender Chris Smalling and ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham both star in the Italian capital.

And manager Daniele De Rossi, one of Europe’s top midfield destroyers in his playing days, could be the ideal gaffer to restore Phillips to his former glory.
