Manchester United stars Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes have paid tribute to departing forward Anthony Martial, after the French forward confirmed his Old Trafford exit.
Martial will see his contract expire in the coming weeks to bring to an end a nine-year stint with the club after joining from Monaco in 2015. The 28-year-old notched 90 goals in 317 appearances, with his most successful year coming in 2019/20 when he scored 23 times in 48 outings.
The striker's final season has been disrupted by injury and Martial last appeared for the club in December before requiring groin surgery. Martial's final match proved to be in a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
United's charge arrived with significant expectation as he became the world's most expensive teenager when he was signed nine years ago. He never truly ac hieved star status but clearly made an impact on his teammates.
Reacting to Martial's Instagram announcement, Bruno Fernandes said: "I’m going to miss link up with you toto," and accompanied his message with a red heart.

Rashford too posted a heart emoji, along with the message: "So many memories together. Stay blessed brother."

"I would also like to express my gratitude to all my team-mates, technical staff and all the members of the club I have met during my 9 years here. I am proud to have been able to share these experiences with you.
"Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club has left its mark on my career and offered me an incredible opportunity to play in front of you. I'm leaving to take on new challenges, I'll always be a Red Devil and I'll continue to follow the club's results with passion.
