Templegate's Epsom Oaks runner-by-runner guide

CAUGHT U LOOKING 2

CAUGHT short. Had decent juvenile form but was no match for Ezeliya on comeback at Navan last time but could improve and looks overpriced.

DANCE SEQUENCE 2

LAST Dance. Good second in the Nell Gwyn at HQ before a poor effort in the 1,000 Guineas. She’s not guaranteed to stay and has plenty to find.

EZELIYA 5

EZE lover. She showed promise last year and took a big step forward when winning the Group 3 Salsabil at Navan last month. She is bred to relish this trip and Dermot Weld doesn’t send them over for a day out. There’s more to come.

FOREST FAIRY 4

FOREST fired up. Finished like a train to take the Cheshire Oaks on the line after traffic problems. She looks full of stamina, which will be an asset in the conditions, and she can improve on just her third run. Pick of the home team.

MAKING DREAMS 1

DREAMS dashed. Won a French Group 3 but struggled at Longchamp last time and this looks a tall order up in trip.

RUBIES ARE RED 4

RED alert. Finished like a train after being outpaced in the Lingfield Oaks Trial and will relish this slightly longer trip. Big chance if she’s closer to the pace coming around Tattenham Corner.

SEAWARD 2

ALL at Sea. Improved third in the Cheshire Oaks and should stay but was held at Group 1 last year so needs more stepping up in grade.

SECRET SATIRE 3

SECRET’s not out. Good Musidora winner when showing lots of pace. She’s not guaranteed to get this longer trip but is talented and can’t be ruled out.

TREASURE 3

TREASURE chest. King’s filly was beaten less than two lengths in the Lingfield Trial when maybe in need of the run. Should improve for that outing and could nick a place.

WAR CHIMES 1

WAR crime. Has been held in Group contests in France on her past two starts and needs a lot more in this company.

YLANG YLANG 4

SHANG Ylang. Ended last season winning the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile and was beaten less than a length in the 1,000 Guineas on comeback when finishing strongly. This Frankel filly shapes like a stayer and has a big chance for Aidan O’Brien.

YOU GOT TO ME 3

GOT a hope. Won the Lingfield Oaks Trial on comeback from the front. She looked like being caught but kept finding more and will be hard to pass again. Place player.

Templegate's Epsom Oaks tip and 1-2-3 prediction

EZELIYA looked a class act when winning a Navan Group 3 on comeback and she has more to come for legendary trainer Dermot Weld.

Rubies Are Red finished with a real rattle when second in the Lingfield Trial and could just pip fellow Aidan O’Brien hope Ylang Ylang for second.

1st Ezeliya
2nd Rubies Are Red
3rd Ylang Ylang
