SIR Paul McCartney is to collaborate with rock rivals The Rolling Stones — for the first time in almost 60 years.

The Beatles legend is set to feature on a song on the band’s forthcoming album.

Macca, 80, joined Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood in an LA studio for the secret recording.

His only previous link up with the Stones was in a cameo in 1967 alongside Beatles bandmate John Lennon — with the pair performing backing vocals on the single We Love You.

The Beatles and Stones enjoyed a fiery rivalry in the Sixties — but have since become respectful to one another.

The Stones have been alluding for some time to a new album, their first since 2016’s Blue & Lonesome.

Earlier this year Richards, 79, posted an Instagram video in which he hinted new music was on the way, and Sir Mick, 79, said in a 2021 interview the band had “a lot of tracks done”.

He also told how Covid lockdowns had delayed the process — which has allowed for McCartney to join them.

It will be their 31st studio album and first since the death of drummer Charlie Watts, 80, in August 2021.

Richards has said Watts had recorded some new material with them before he died.
