Travis Kelce has shut down rumours that he's set to appear in 'Happy Gilmore 2' alongside Hollywood star Adam Sandler, referring to speculation as nothing more than "conspiracy theories". However, the NFL dynamo did express his ambition towards an acting career in the future.

The news comes as the 57 year-old actor revealed plans are afoot for a sequel to the beloved 1996 sporting comedy, with a script in development where he'd reprise his title role. Furthering the buzz, Sandler even drafted a hopeful cast list including golf legends Tiger Woods and John Daly.

Addressing these internet whispers, during an appearance with his brother Jason on their podcast "New Heights", Kelce batted off suggestions that he might also star in the project. Already set to make his acting debut in Ryan Murphy's spooktacular series "Grotesquerie", this fall, he seems open to many opportunities.

Unveiling his desire, he said on the podcast: "I didn't even know there was a job opening for Happy Gilmore 2. If there is, I'll be a ------- extra," showing his eagerness to jump into any role offered "Any way I can get on a Happy Gilmore film or Adam Sandler film or set, count me in. I've been a huge fan of the Sand-man, but this is exactly what it says, a conspiracy theory."

In response to the wild theory, the Chiefs superstar's elder brother confessed that he wasn't convinced by some of the speculation he'd seen on Reddit about his sibling. The Eagles legend bluntly stated: "There doesn't seem like there's a lot of evidence."

The newly appointed ESPN analyst then referenced Arnold Schwarzenegger as he gave his take on the theories, adding: "There's three parts to this conspiracy theory, 'Part 1, on the podcast, of course, Part 2 is 'Travis has been wearing this hat for a couple of weeks.' Part 3 is Happy Gilmore 2 was just announced."

However, the Chiefs tight end teased: "This is exactly what it says it is: A conspiracy theory. Who knows? Theories can come true. Theories can be true and people not know about it. I might be in the talking and nobody knows about it, or I could not be in the talking, before revealing that he is open to some acting work, saying: " before revealing that he is open to some acting work, saying: "Other than the movie is getting made, and I'm looking for movie deals.

"I'm trying to think of what role... would I be the old guy? The ------- heckling from the crowd? I did just do a gameshow, I did just do a gameshow, maybe I can be the Bob Barker guy... I could be Shooter's caddy, you could be Happy's caddy. You fit the homeless Neanderthal [profile]."

In a potentially prophetic statement, Kelce then reasserted his desire to appear on the big screen in the future as he allowed a glimpse into what avenues he may pursue after hanging up his cleats. He added: "I'll do anything in that movie. I'll be a part of it any way I possibly can."
