A devastated groom has discovered that his newly-wed wife is actually a man who was planning to scam him for his money.
The 26-year-old, who goes by the name AK, met his partner Adinda Kanza, also 26, on Instagram last year and began dating in person for a year. When the pair would meet up near their home in Indonesia, Adina would dress in a traditional Muslim niqab that covered her face - which he thought meant she was dedicated to her religion.
They decided to get married and tied the knot during an intimate ceremony inside AK's home, without any of the bride's family being present on April 12. At the time, the bride told her groom that she didn't have any family left. But soon after their wedding had taken place, AK started to think something was wrong with his bride because she avoided intimacy by continuing to tell him that she was on her period or that she was feeling ill.
The man managed to hide his identity for their entire relationship (Newsflash)Things grew even more suspicious when Adina refused to speak with the groom's family and continued to wear her niqab all the time at home. 12 days later, AK managed to find his bride's address and was shocked to find that her parents were still alive, reports the South China Morning Post.
Her parents were willing to speak to the groom and sadly revealed that he had actually married a man, identified as ESH, who started cross-dressing in 2020. They had no idea that their son was even in a relationship. According to the police, Adina appeared to have a feminine voice. The authorities added: "He also has a gentle voice and tone, so there was no suspicion at all about him being a woman."

Following an investigation, police arrested ESH who confessed that he married AK so he could try and steal his family's assets. He is now facing charges of fraud and could be jailed for up to four years. The investigation is ongoing.
