Former First Lady Melania Trump has spoken out in defense of her nude photos and work as a model.
Trump, 54, who immigrated to the US from Slovenia to model, addressed the controversial topic in a video with her voiceover shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday morning.
‘Why do I stand proudly behind my nude modeling work?’ she said as her words were typed out.
‘The more pressing question is, why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photo shoot?’

It then showed images of famous nude paintings including Lady Godiva by English artist John Collier, The Bathers by French artist Paul Cézanne and the David sculpture by Michelangelo.
‘Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body?’ continued the former first lady.
‘Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration.’

She concluded: ‘We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression.’
Trump was born in 1970 and began modeling at the age of 16, traveling to Paris and Milan for work. She eventually met a businessman who sponsored her immigration to the US in 1996 and a couple years was introduced to real estate developer Donald Trump, who became her future husband.
She appeared nude in a French adult magazine in 1995 as well as on Donald’s private jet for British GQ in 2000. The shoots did not show full-frontal nudity. They reemerged during her husband’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Her video on Wednesday was the sixth promoting her forthcoming memoir, titled Melania, to be released on October 8.
In another clip shared last week, the former first lady appeared to push a conspiracy theory around her husband’s assassination attempt at a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
She also shared a video with baby photos of her and the ex-president’s son, Barron Trump, and spoke about lessons from motherhood that were ‘profound’ and have ‘shaped me in ways I could never have imagined’.
