China allegedly launches next-generation fighter jet first-ever

A new, unidentified aircraft has been spotted in China, which, based on its appearance, could belong to the sixth-generation fighter category. In the published footage, the jet is flying alongside the Chengdu J-20 - a Chinese fifth-generation fighter jet, officially considered one of Beijing’s most advanced military aircraft.

At this point, the name, technical specifications, capabilities, and development stage of the new Chinese fighter remain unknown. However, it is already clear that the aircraft has completed its first or one of its first flights. This is indicated by the fact that the aircraft’s landing gear remained deployed, which is typical for early test flights.

Based on the available footage, it can be concluded that the aircraft is a large twin-engine plane designed with a tailless configuration. It lacks a vertical stabilizer, or it is very small or complex. This design choice aims to reduce the aircraft’s radar visibility.

Specifically, the new fighter is larger than the Chengdu J-20, due to its larger wing area.

"Ultimately, if China has indeed taken to the skies with a prototype of a sixth-generation fighter, it means they have significantly outpaced all existing Western projects of such aircraft. In particular, the American NGAD project is still in the conceptual stage, with its funding and future uncertain pending a decision by Trump," adds Defense Express.
