SHAUN Wane is set to find out next month if he will be kept on as England coach.

The man who suffered World Cup semi-final agony is officially out of contract.

And as debate rages over whether he should stay or go, SunSport understands a decision is likely in February.

A Rugby Football League board meeting is set to rubber stamp Wane's fate - as England do not yet know who they will play in the Autumn.

New Zealand were meant to travel for a three-Test series but the expectation is that will not happen over what sources Down Under described as 'complications.'

Now work is being done to try and secure games against the best opposition, otherwise a European Championship looms, which many feel will be no good.

Wane and number two Andy Last have already given their reviews of the World Cup, which saw England lose 27-26 to Samoa in golden point extra time.

And the assistant believes they should be given the chance to lead the nation to the 2025 tournament in France.

He said: "We did an internal review and spoke about things we thought worked well and things we need to improve on but I’m not sure when decisions will be made.

“We probably had a bad 40 minutes in the entire tournament but at the top end of international sport, you can’t afford to have any poor spells. You’ve got to be on from minute one to minute 80.

“But I learned loads from Shaun and other members of the coaching staff."
