BURNLEY chief Vincent Kompany wants to snatch Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen from his old club Anderlecht.

Verbruggen, 20, looks one of the best prospects in Europe and the Clarets boss is back on his trail after attempting to bring the stopper with him to Turf Moor last summer.

Since then, the Bartman has enhanced his reputation by claiming the first-team spot at the Belgian side and also being called up by Holland for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against France and Gibraltar.

Liverpool are also very keen on Verbruggen — as we first revealed in February — but that would be as a long-term replacement for current Kop No 1 Alisson, with no guarantee of game time.

Kompany’s runaway Championship leaders could offer Premier League football and a step up the ladder immediately, which could be a huge temptation.

Anderlecht want around £15million for Verbruggen, which could turn out to be a shrewd investment.

Kompany's former Manchester City team-mate Arijanet Muric has been the Clarets' first choice stopper this term.

He has made 36 Championship appearances, keeping 16 clean sheets.

In addition to Burnley and Liverpool, Manchester United are reportedly interested in Verbruggen.

Belgian outlet HLN claim the Red Devils are weighing up a bid for Anderlecht’s 6ft 4in gloveman Verbruggen.

David de Gea is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season.

But Erik ten Hag's men are reportedly keen even if De Gea stays beyond the end of this season.

Verbruggen has played 31 times in all competitions this season.
