One of EastEnders' longest-serving stars looked very different to his character as he pounded the pavement in Lycra.

Ian Beale star Adam Woodyatt was seen with a long beard as he ran in memory of his late co-star Barbara Windsor.

He was joined by his former EastEnders co-star Tanya Franks, who plays Rainie Highway in the soap.

They were with Barbara's devoted husband Scott Mitchell in preparing for the London Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.

They are part of a team of EastEnders stars past and present called Babs' Army, who also include Jake Wood and Natalie Cassidy.

The trio went on a run in Regents' Park for a feature on ITV's regional news show London Tonight.

However, Adam admitted he might not be totally prepared for the 26.2-mile endurance race.

Asked how many miles he'd conquered so far, he said: "I think the longest so far might be about six. An hour and a half.

"I cycle a lot so I'll be fine. I'm going to get my bike out."

Invited to go on a jog through the sunlit park by reporter Sally Williams, former I'm A Celeb star Adam joked: "I can start my training."

Babs' Army are hoping to raise £50,000 as Scott runs his third and final marathon with his EastEnders friends on April 23.

At the time of writing the total stands at £36,000 and donations can be made by clicking here.
