Lewis Capaldi's sister slams critics who branded singer's parents 'cruel'

Lewis Capaldi 's sister has hit back at cruel trolls who have made fun of her parents following their participation in Lewis' Netflix documentary titled How I'm Feeling Now.

Danielle Capaldi, 30, who is the big sister to music superstar Lewis, 26, has insisted that her mum and dad, Mark and Carol, are 'ordinary' parents from Scotland who want nothing but happiness for their talented son.

Following the success of Lewis' Netflix documentary, which details his battle with mental health and his Tourette's diagnosis, his parents have been slammed by viewers on social media for their 'brutal honesty' as some fans of the singer claim he has been treated badly by his mum and dad.

After getting wind of the criticism, Lewis' older sister has hit back at trolls.

She added: “Lewis’s documentary has had a lot of positive responses. But unfortunately there will always be people who have to look for problems where there aren’t any.

“If you don’t get Scottish patter or parents who are worried about their son, don’t comment.”

During the eye-opening documentary, one harrowing scene sees a powerful exchange between Lewis and his father Mark.

During the making of his second album, Lewis was overcome with anxiety and stress, which resulted in him having tics, or as he described it himself, 'convulsions'.

Sitting in his kitchen with his mum and dad, Lewis' father Mark mentions Lewis' tics and urges him to see a doctor about why it's happening, but the conversation ends in Lewis going outside on his own to cry.

After watching the emotional scenes, viewers have branded Lewis' father as 'harsh', but Danielle feels as though people are getting it all wrong.

“This is one scene that people are misinterpreting. We didn’t know he had Tourette’s at this point. He wanted him to get help," she clapped back on social media.

“Lewis was in agony from his shoulder tic. He’s not being harsh. He’s worried and hates seeing him in pain.”

It comes after Lewis said he has been accused of taking drugs due to his Tourette's syndrome.

The Before You Go singer revealed he's been asked directly if he's on drugs – but insisted that 'wasn't the case'.

During the documentary, he explained: “The truth is, I’m not banging loads of gear down. This isn’t drugs, and I’ve had that accusation on nights out.

“People have asked me directly, ‘Are you on drugs, is it cocaine?’ and I saw a few tweets knocking around after shows with people saying ‘He’s on drugs’ - and that wasn’t the case.

“If you think I’m going to take drugs and then come out on stage in front of 15,000 and then try to do a show — I mean, obviously, I wait until afterwards. That’s a joke,“ Lewis added to The Sun.
