After a few years of unrest for Peter on the cobbles following his relapse with alcoholism, he was left needing a liver transplant to get him back to full health.

He did not look his best during that time but now fans could not help but comment on Peter now he has a clean bill of health.

As Peter took his wife Carla out to Speed Daal for a New Year meal, he showed off his new glasses that elevated his usual look and style.

He looked dapper in a tight-fitting white t-shirt for his date night with his wife, who had been left upset after initially not having any New Year's plans.

One fan said of Chris Gascoyne's character: "Peter has replaced Deirdre as the 'sexy specs' of the street."

Another losestruck viewer gushed: "Peter looking mighty fine tonight!"

While a third mused: "Peter well suits these specs. There's a new sexy specs about lads. And it's Peter Barlow."

Another viewer was simply happy to see the pair back on screen after feeling as though Peter and Carla content had been lacking in 2022.

They said: "A Carla and Peter kiss under the fireworks!! No one talk to me."

Could the Corrie bosses be setting up the lovebirds for a monumental 2023?
