Two teams chasing vastly different goals meet on Saturday afternoon in north London.

Hosts Tottenham are still pursuing a top-four finish but sit three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United having played a game more.

That situation means only a win will do in this game but it is one they should be confident of getting, especially with Harry Kane in such fine form – he’s now scored in his last six matches for Spurs and England.

Bournemouth have struggled towards the bottom of the table all season, although they head into this contest three points outside the relegation zone following a run of four wins in their last eight games.

That run has included 1-0 wins at drop rivals Leicester and Wolves, although this is likely to prove a tougher test, with Spurs having been strong at home, winning 11 out of 15 at their new, spaceship-style stadium. The last five here have all brought victory.

Still, this isn’t a Spurs team in full flow right now.

They are without a clean sheet in their last five outings and have failed to beat Wolves, Everton and Southampton in recent weeks.

However, all those games came away from home. Back on familiar territory, expect Spurs to punish a visiting team who have the worst defensive record in the division.

While the nine goals they conceded at Liverpool back in the autumn was exceptional, they’ve shipped at least three in away games at Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd and Aston Villa.

Away to the other members of the top half, Bournemouth have won just two points from a possible 27 and while I doubt they will roll over here, Spurs’ extra quality should get its chance to shine.

  • Bournemouth have conceded a league-high 57 goals so far this season and 38 of those have come away from home.

Tottenham vs Bournemouth best bets

Spurs to win and both teams to score

A bet which has already landed in Tottenham’s home games against strugglers Leeds, Forest, Leicester and Southampton. It also came in against Brighton last week, albeit rather fortuitously.

In short, Spurs have the ability to score goals against the lesser clubs – Harry Kane takes some stopping – but they are far from watertight at the back, as they’ve shown recently by conceding in each of their last five games, including both under Cristian Stellini.

Bournemouth are giving it a real go in terms of avoiding relegation and won’t be cowed coming here having won four of their last eight.

They’ll probably still lose but will go down fighting and could well find the net.

Harry Kane to score a header

Kane has already scored nine goals with his head this season, equalling the Premier League era record of Duncan Ferguson.

He can better the former Everton striker here with Bournemouth particularly vulnerable in the air.

With Bournemouth having conceded the most goals and shots in the league, it’s not hard to see Spurs winning this fairly easily and, if they do, Kane looks sure to be heavily involved – he’s now scored in his last six games for club and country.

With good delivery from the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Ivan Perisic available, Kane looks a big price to score another header.

Philip Billing to score at any time

Having been pushed further forward again of late, Billing has delivered a goal in three of his last six games.

He’s become the support man for Dominic Solanke up front and will look to cause problems ‘in the hole’ between the home defence and midfield.

Given Spurs’ record of conceding in this sort of game (see above), Billing looks a big price to be scoring here.
