After four people were discovered shot dead at a house in Maine, police have come across a cryptic note at the scene.
34-year-old Joseph Eaton has been charged with four counts of murder after confessing to killing his parents and their friends at the friends' home in Bowdoin, Maine.
Eaton had been picked up from Maine Correctional Center in Windham on Friday, April 14, by his mother - Cynthia Eaton.
He had been serving a sentence for aggravated assault - a crime serious enough to prevent him from possessing a gun in Maine.
On April 18 the bodies of Eaton's parents, Cynthia, 62, and David Eaton, 66, as well as their friends Robert Eger, 72, and Patti Eger, 62, were discovered at the Eger's home.

Col. Ross said in a press conference on April 19: "[Eaton] was picked up on April 14 at the correctional center by his mother, Cynthia, and they drove to the residence in Bowdoin where the murders took place."
Police say someone close to the family visited the property on the fateful Tuesday morning, with reports it was Patti's sister, where the gruesome discovery was made.
According to an affadavit cited by the Bangor Daily News, the sister saw blood on the front steps as she approached the house.
She called out but received no answer, then saw the broken glass and blood on the floor along with a male body in the kitchen covered with a towel.
She then came across a cryptic note on the kitchen island, unsigned and not addressed to anyone.
It simply said that someone had been molested and no one did anything about it.
A day before the murders are thought to have taken place, Joseph Eaton posted a chilling video to social media, beginning for forgiveness.
In the video he can be heard ranting about dealing with trauma for a long time, as he sobs into the camera.
In the chilling video posted by Eaton, he said: "Just need to try to forgive me for the things I did. I have been dealing with trauma for a long time on things I don’t talk to people about.

Eaton appeared in court on Thursday, April 20, and was asked by Superior Court Justice Daniel Billings if he understood the charges. He was not asked to enter pleas as he has yet to be indicted by the Sagadahoc County grand jury.
Eatons' next court appearance is set for June 28.
Along with the four deaths in the Bowdoin home, Eaton reportedly shot at several cars along the highway, injuring three.
Sean Halsey, 51, and his two children, Justin Halsey, 29, and Paige Halsey, 25, all of Bowdoinham, were wounded after the car they were travelling in near Yarmouth was shot at.
While the men suffered injuries not thought to be life-threatening, Paige Halsey was critically injured.
On Wednesday, April 19, Sean Halsey said his daughter's breathing tube had been removed and she was recovering.
If convicted of murder, Eaton is facing 25 years to life in prison. Maine law states judges may impose life sentences on defendants convicted of multiple homicides.
